![]() Be sure to place the completed runs in a separate area of the table (don’t mix them with the stock, that would make the game a bit too easy). Step Five: Remove Completed Suit SequencesĪfter you complete a run of King through Ace from a red suit or black suit, remove them from the board. Pro Tip: Once you cycle through all of the stock cards once and you no longer have any moves left, the game is over. You can accomplish this step by turning over the top stock card and dealing it to one of the 10 foundational piles. Once you run out of possible moves on the tableau, you can draw one card at a time from the stock. Step Four: Use The Stock Pile Cards When You’re Stuck Pro Tip: You can’t use cards from the stockpile if you have empty columns. After you’ve emptied a column, you can move cards or qualifying sequences into the vacant space. Now, you must turn over the face down card the Queen was on before the move.ĭuring gameplay, you can’t leave any exposed card face down. Suppose you move an exposed Queen of Hearts onto a King of Diamonds in another column. Step Three: Uncover The Cards From Each Pile Opposite color sequences can’t be moved together. However, it’s essential to note that you can only move a sequence to another column if it’s the same color. In the two suit version of Spider Solitaire, you must complete descending sequences (King to Ace) of the identical color suits to remove them from the board. Since you’re using two decks, you must build and remove four suits in total (two red suits and two black suits). In two suit Spider, your goal is to build and remove the black and red suits from the table. Now that you’re familiar with the gameplay setup, you’re ready to start building your Spider Solitaire suit sequences. ![]() These cards are referred to as the “stock.” You can draw from the stock pile when you cannot make moves with the cards on your tableau. Put the rest of the cards face down on the table. The last six should only contain four cards (last card face up). The first four should hold five cards each (last card face up). ![]() This is the beginning of your tableau piles.
![]() ![]() While experienced and well-trained HR professionals are unlikely to overstep, some hiring managers may be tempted to ask probing questions to show empathy or interest (or just to satisfy their curiosity). ![]() Tough choices and emotional stories have a way of drawing people in. Your goal is to address the question and turn the conversation back to your skills, qualifications, and professional potential. They are factual, direct, and positively charged. What makes these responses effective? They provide just enough color to eliminate second-guessing, while strategically leaving out deeply personal details that might make a hiring manager uncomfortable. From what I've learned about this position, I believe I have a lot to contribute.” I am glad that I got the chance to spend my time taking care of him, but now I am ready to return to my professional role. “My dad was diagnosed with a terminal illness last year. Some candidates find it helpful to write out their responses to the difficult interview questions they expect to field, while others prefer to role-play with a trusted friend to try out different question-and-answer strategies. How do you handle a tough question while maintaining composure and a professional demeanor? Talking about this experience with a stranger might make you feel vulnerable, uncomfortable, or even teary-eyed. Your decision to stay at home and become a caregiver involved sacrifices, sleepless nights, and emotional upheaval. This is particularly true if you expect having to explain a deeply personal and emotional decision. However, skipping interview prep altogether will likely backfire. Most interview experts will tell you to not over-rehearse responses to specific interview questions at the risk of sounding robotic and rote. It will also allow you to walk into the interview with genuine confidence and excitement about what's next. This internal acceptance should eliminate the temptation to apologize to anyone for that choice. Remember that you have made the best possible decision given the circumstances at the time. No matter what your emotional mix is, acknowledge it and accept it. There might be some sadness at having missed out on career opportunities or anxiety at the financial consequences of not working for several months or years. You must allow yourself time and space to reflect on what has happened and to integrate it into the complete picture that describes you as a human and as a professional.Īs you do this, you may experience pride at having made the right choice. This might sound like advice from a therapist but don't discard it as “too fluffy” for interview prep. Here's your map for explaining your employment gaps and navigating the path to your next career success. However, preparing for the interview has its own set of underwater currents and obstacles to avoid. Addressing the employment gap on your resume is the first step. While there is strength in numbers, it's not uncommon for professionals during the job search to feel alone and lost during the all-important career re-entry process. If you're dreading the unavoidable interview question about your caregiving employment gap, you are not alone. I’m not sure I’ll ever be a custom quilter–the type that quilts each area of a quilt block differently. Something else that I liked is that all the machine quilting motifs that she teaches you is perfect to meander across a whole quilt (thus the name). The book is filled with Angela’s fun personality and encouragement that you should never, ever pick out your quilting mistakes. As a matter of fact, you can get a preview of the motifs covered in the book and a FAQ from Angela herself here. She really builds up the designs in a thoughtful way. Another thing I liked about it is that while it contains all the information that an absolute beginner needs (sewing machine feet, needles, thread, batting, etc.), the motifs ramp up quickly and it ends with some designs that are quite impressive. I’m a visual learner and this approach really appeals to me. I am not exactly a beginner, but I was intrigued by the step-by-step, photo tutorial style of this book. So, I will be working my way through this book along with my quilting and blogging friends, Vicki and Jen. When I heard that everyone’s quilting hero, Angela Walters had a new book out, called Free-Motion Meandering: A Beginners Guide to Machine Quilting, I definitely wanted to check it out. Your internet service provider: You can easily waste an entire day troubleshooting poor WiFi performance without realizing that your internet service provider is actually to blame. For the best experience, it’s important to manage bandwidth hoggers and prevent them from stealing bandwidth from everyone else. Video chatting or streaming on multiple devices can bring even a strong WiFi network to a crawl. Bandwidth hoggers: Sometimes, the problem isn’t with the strength of your WiFi signal but with the capacity of your internet connection. You can’t reasonably expect a low-end router to provide reliable wireless access to the internet to a busy office with more than a dozen of employees and several fax machines, WiFi connected printers, and wireless security cameras. Router capacity: Just like some computers can barely handle casual web browsing and some can render complex 3D objects, not all routers are equally powerful.Of course, WiFi networks can also interfere with one another, a problem that’s especially common in apartment buildings and other densely populated areas. Interference: WiFi signals occupy the same radio frequency band of the electromagnetic spectrum as actual radios, cell phones, microwave ovens, walkie talkies, baby monitors, and many other devices, all of which can interfere with WiFi signals. These WiFi blockers have especially negative effect on 5 GHz WiFi networks, because higher frequency signals don’t penetrate solid objects nearly as well as lower frequency signals. Obstructions: WiFi signals can be partially absorbed or even completely blocked by various obstacles and objects, including walls, duct work, furniture, home appliances, and even people. You can determine the reach of your WiFi router using a WiFi analyzer app like NetSpot. Cheaper routers may even struggle to cover a relatively small apartment with a strong WiFi signal - let alone an entire house. Physical distance: For obvious technical and safety reasons, WiFi routers don’t have the same transmitting power as cell towers. The seemingly unreliable nature of WiFi networks has everything to do with the fact that there are many factors that influence their performance. But if you’re mostly just browsing the web or watching online movies, a latency of around 100 ms should be fine. For competitive gaming, anything over 30 ms is generally considered unacceptable. For latency-sensitive tasks such as gaming or real-time video and voice communication, a latency of less than 50ms is often recommended. Latency is measured in ms (milliseconds), and you want it to be as low as possible. But if you plan on streaming Ultra HD content without bringing the connection speed of other people on the same network to a crawl, internet speeds that are closer to 100 Mbps are recommended. For families with multiple internet users or for frequent online streaming, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recommends internet speeds of 12–25 Mbps.
